Ethnopedagogy has gained attention from higher education institutions, policymakers, researchers, educators, and communities worldwide. This can be attributed to integrating indigenous knowledge and cultural values into formal education. They can be seen as essential for preparing culturally competent learners, while protecting local identities in the era of globalization. This study maps ethnopedagogy research published from 2013 to 2025, using Scopus as the primary database and supplementing the search with Taylor & Francis, Elsevier, and Springer to ensure comprehensive coverage of peer-reviewed literature. The study used a bibliometric approach to extract and analyze relevant publications on ethnopedagogy, employing VOSviewer as a text-mining and visualization tool. After a multi-stage screening process applied to an initial pool of retrieved records, the filtering yielded 42 eligible documents. The study demonstrated a shift in research, including local wisdom-based character education, multicultural education, the use of technology in cultural learning, as well as traditional ethnological enactments. Novel studies have significantly investigated issues in STEM education, digital ethnopedagogy, and project-based cultural learning. The present study highlights research on ethnopedagogy, focusing on key research clusters, influential works, geographical distribution, and emerging gaps. The findings suggest a call for ethnopedagogy research that could preserve cultural knowledge and lead to sustainable educational practices.
