Cerium-doped Tl2LiYCl6 (TLYC) crystals co-doped with alkaline earth metal ions (Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, Ba2+) are grown using as-received chemicals as Æ16 mm boules using the Bridgman method. Samples processed from each boule are characterized by their scintillation detector properties, such as energy resolution, decay time, and proportionality. More than 12% improvements in light yield are calculated for TLYC co-doped with Mg and Ca. Gamma-neutron pulse shape discrimination using a moderated AmBe neutron source with TLYC crystals co-doped with Mg and Ca result in figure-of-merits of 1.5 and 1.6, respectively.
