Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is essential for detecting glycemic variability, particularly nocturnal hypoglycemia. The FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus (FSL2 +), a next-generation scan-free integrated CGM (iCGM), provides minute-by-minute glucose readings, reduced interference, optional alarms, reduced MARD (8.2%), 15-day wear and uses during pregnancy, and pediatric population (above 2 years). It has potential to be used with 3rd-party devices and software for extended applicability. Clinical trials and real-world evidence studies presented high accuracy in adults and children, improved time-in-range, and reduced hypoglycemia episodes, especially with the alert mode. With India’s substantial pediatric T1D burden, accurate real-time CGM use is increasingly important. Though FSL2 + presents affordability challenges, yet government–NGO models are feasible pathways for wider access. Expert opinion emphasizes new FSL2 + as a highly accurate, user-friendly, pediatric and in pregnancy uses—and presents with broad clinical applicability. Wider clinician education, insurance engagement, and targeted awareness efforts are needed. The ongoing real-world studies in India are expected to generate locally relevant evidence. Overall, FSL2 + has strong potential to significantly enhance diabetes management.
