OBJECTIVES: The need for specialized gynecological cancer nursing guidance has been recognized by Australian nurses and people with lived experience. To optimize implementation, an examination of implementation determinants prior to development is recommended. This study aimed to investigate determinants for implementation of a specialized gynecological cancer nursing guidance resource. These factors included support for resource development, utility expectations, enablers and barriers and implementation plans. METHODS: An online cross-sectional survey was administered to n = 72 Australian gynecological cancer nurses and/or service leaders between March and June 2025. Descriptive statistical and content analyses were undertaken. RESULTS: The development of a guidance resource for specialized gynecological cancer nursing was well supported by 90% (n = 65) of survey participants. Two-thirds (66%, n = 48) reported they would use such a resource at least weekly. High levels of agreement were observed across all clinical guideline determinants. At present, most participants consult colleagues to guide clinical decision-making (92%, n = 49). For education on nursing guidance, participants preferred both online (91%, n = 48) and in-person (89%, n = 47) delivery. Qualitative findings highlighted three themes influencing implementation: "Integration into workflow," "Confidence in content," and "Practical support and endorsement." CONCLUSIONS: The development of a gynecological cancer nursing guidance resource is well supported and will attract frequent use by survey participants. Recognized implementation determinants will be incorporated into development of the forthcoming resource. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE: Gynecological cancer nurses and service leaders have informed recommended strategies considered important to optimize implementation of a guidance resource.
