Agarose gel electrophoresis is a standard molecular biology technique used to separate and visualize DNA fragments by size. PCR-amplified DNA products can be analyzed to verify amplification success, approximate size, and detect any nonspecific products. In this method, DNA samples are mixed with a loading dye and separated through a 2% agarose gel prepared in 0.5X TBE buffer. DNA bands are visualized using RED Safe DNA stain and a transilluminator. This protocol provides a reliable and efficient method for assessing PCR product quality and quantity.
