Patient Blood Management (PBM) aims to reduce complications related to anaemia, bleeding, and transfusion, but clinical research in this field is limited by inconsistent outcome definitions. The European Perioperative Clinical Outcome (EPCO) definitions standardized many perioperative complications, but several clinically relevant PBM-related outcomes, particularly transfusion associated events, remain insufficiently represented.
