Low-cost multichannel electronic auscultation system enables continuous real-time lung sound monitoring for respiratory diagnostics.
Why the study?
A low-cost, non-invasive system for continuous real-time monitoring and detailed auscultation of lung sounds was needed to improve respiratory pathology diagnosis.
The paper proposes a novel, low-cost multichannel electronic medical device for real-time non-invasive monitoring and visualization of lung sounds.
In this paper we propose the design of a multichannel system for non-invasive continuous real-time monitoring of breathing functions. The proposed system is based on a low-cost, electronic medical device, designed by us within a research program on the remote and non-invasive monitoring of the health. Moreover the device allows the effective auscultation, the accurate processing and the detailed visualization (temporal and frequency graphs) of any lung sound. Then, it is suitable for the continuous real-time monitoring of breathing functions, resulting also very useful to diagnose respiratory pathologies.

Perri et al. (2026) studied Respiratory pathologies. Multichannel system for electronic auscultation was evaluated. The proposed low-cost multichannel system for electronic auscultation enables continuous, real-time monitoring and processing of lung sounds to assist in diagnosing respiratory pathologies.
