A 51-year-old woman who had undergone peritoneal dialysis (PD) for 5 years was admitted to our hospital for PD-associated peritonitis. The PD catheter had been inserted without fixation to the lower abdominal wall. Klebsiella pneumoniae and α-streptococci were isolated from a dialysis effluent culture. Following the intraperitoneal administration of ceftazidime and cefazolin, the white blood cell count in the dialysis effluent gradually decreased during the first 10 days to 80 cells/μL but increased again to 1135 cells/μL on hospital day 12.
