Objective: Perioperative hypothermia (<36°C) is a common complication in adult surgical patients and is associated with adverse outcomes including surgical site infection, coagulopathy, pain, altered drug metabolism, adverse cardiac events, and prolonged hospital stays. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Clinical Guideline 65 provides evidence-based recommendations for the prevention and management of inadvertent perioperative hypothermia, with an updated version published in 2016.
