Novel virtual AF clinic integrates wearables and remote monitoring for scalable risk factor modification.
Why the study?
AF management faces challenges including rising patient volume, limited specialist access, inconsistent guideline adherence, and inadequate resources for lifestyle and risk factor modification.
A virtual AF clinic model integrating wearables and remote monitoring was designed to deliver scalable lifestyle and risk factor modification.
Virtual AF clinic model may address care gaps in AF management; leaves open whether it improves outcomes or reduces utilization in prospective trials.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) management is challenged by rising patient volume, limited specialist access, inconsistent adherence to guidelines, and inadequate resources for lifestyle and risk factor modification (LRFM). To address these gaps, we developed a virtual AF clinic integrating wearable derived physiologic data, continuous remote monitoring, and LRFM delivered through a technology enabled, human powered care model. The program was designed to improve outcomes, reduce resource utilization, and operate as a financially self sustaining clinical service.
