Trained recurrent networks constrained by the Drosophila head-direction circuit lose heading memory when 10-25% of their connections are rewired. Wiring differences between individual flies, measured across four connectomes (male CNS, hemibrain, FlyWire, BANC), are of similar size. We test whether networks trained on one fly's wiring keep working on another fly's wiring without retraining (a wiring transplant), at the cell-type and neuron level, whether failure scales with wiring distance between flies, and whether trained networks maintain heading with a ring-like slow manifold.
