In this study, a novel core-shell structured magnetic mesoporous organosilica supported diethylenetriamine/palladium complex (Fe 3 O 4 @PMO/Am-Pd) is successfully prepared, characterized, and employed as a powerful heterogeneous and recyclable nanocatalyst for the Suzuki coupling under moderate conditions. The Fe 3 O 4 @PMO/Am-Pd nanocomposite was synthesized through a multistep process, involving preparation of a magnetic core, deposition of a mesoporous organosilica shell over the magnetic core, and subsequent modification with N 1 -(3-trimethoxysilylpropyl)diethylenetriamine and palladium acetate. The Fe 3 O 4 @PMO/Am-Pd material was characterized by using FT-IR, PXRD, SEM, TEM, TGA, VSM, and EDX analyses to confirm its chemical composition, magnetic properties, morphology, and porosity. The Fe 3 O 4 @PMO/Am-Pd was catalytically applied in the Suzuki reaction. The result demonstrated that the designed catalyst is highly effective for the preparation of Suzuki products under moderate conditions. Additionally, the magnetic nature of the catalyst allowed its easy separation and recovery under applied conditions.
