The global housing crisis has a political dimension, but also a conceptual and technological dimension, which points towards the industrial and modular construction of small homes. The UASH – Universal Accessible Sustainable Habitat – is a conceptual project that responds to this second dimension, based on the idea that an open-standard project can create a universe of compatibility that generates low-cost homes. The project includes the house, formed by modules the size of 20-foot containers with several possible configurations, the block, made up of rows of houses, and the neighborhood, composed of several blocks. It is guided by a set of principles that include accessible design, reversible urbanism, and sustainability.
