Electric vehicles (EVs) are gaining more and more popularity over conventional vehicles in the present times. On the one hand, they increase the electrical load of the distribution network, and on the other, they reduce the consumption of scarce fossil fuels, which in turn curbs the environmental pollution caused by the emission of harmful pollutants. This study examines how strategically placing a vehicle charging station can enhance the technical, financial, and environmental advantages of a radial distribution network. A pool of four different types of electric vehicles in the Chinese market has been considered, and the number of charging and discharging vehicles has been optimally controlled by using the Jaya algorithm to maximize the benefits of radial distribution networks. The costs of EV charging and discharging are also optimally calculated using the said algorithm in the course of work. A detailed analysis has been projected in this work, considering different penetration levels of EVs in IEEE 33 and 141 bus systems. Technical, economic, and environmental benefits of the networks are observed after optimal EV charging station allocation, vehicle charge-discharge strategy, and pricing. The active power losses of the networks are reduced along with improvements in voltage stability.
