A method of constructing multiband filtering functions from single-band functions using rational reactance mapping functions is presented. The technique can be applied to coupled-resonator filters with N pass-bands, each of arbitrary bandwidth and centre frequency. The resulting filter topologies are simple to implement and do not introduce cross-couplings beyond that of the original low-pass prototype.
