Polarized infrared spectra of a single crystal of cyclohexane solid II and the infrared and laser Raman of polycrystalline solid II at 90°K have been measured. The observed splittings and the infrared polarization results indicate a unique site and factor group for this phase. The suggested crystal structure is orthorhombic D2h. The infrared spectrum of a single crystal of the solid I phase has also been recorded and the results are found to agree with previous x-ray and Raman studies. Pressure techniques employing miniaturized instrumentation were used to grow single crystals of solids I and II.
