This panel worked collaboratively, offering individual reflections on a series of common questions. As a result, these four colleagues cooperated in writing an incisive and creative essay that is also an urgent call for action during a time of unprecedented challenges-required reading, indeed, for graduate students and junior faculty in our field.Together, the five essays presented in this section provide a comprehensive and provocative set of perspectives on the past, present, and future of the Conference on Latin American History. It is our hope that these essays can spur future conversations about the state of the field in which The Americas is one of the preeminent journals. We are thankful for this opportunity and also appreciate Erika's, Herman's, and Celso's assistance in facilitating our conversations in Chicago!
