In this study, graphitic carbon nitride quantum dots (CNQDS) were employed as an electrolyte additive to the alkaline solution. CNQDs possess a large surface area and accessible edges that function as active sites for electrochemical reactions, which would boost the electrochemical performance. Here, we have also prepared mesoporous In 2 O 3 nanoparticles through a facile hydrothermal method. Its electrochemical performance was investigated using In 2 O 3 as an active electrode and CNQDs as an electrolyte additive to an alkaline electrolyte in two different ratios [KOH-CN2 and KOH-CN4]. The highest ratio of CNQDs with the In 2 O 3 active electrode exhibits the highest specific capacity of 1025.56C/g at a scan rate of 10 mV/s. Moreover, the asymmetric device M-In 2 O 3 /KOH-CN4/AC was fabricated, and its electrochemical behavior were analyzed using KOH-CN4 as an electrolyte additive. The device exhibits an elevated specific capacity of 285.61 at 1 A/g with cyclic retention of 94.5% after 7000 cycles. Therefore, the CNQDs additive plays a major role in enhancing the electrochemical performance and has a potential application in supercapacitors.
