Migrating north for winter? Post-breeding northward movements of an adult Eurasian Goshawk Astur gentilis in north-eastern Europe

Adult Eurasian Goshawks Astur gentilis in the Baltic States are generally considered sedentary. However, GPS telemetry recorded long-distance movements of a breeding female during two consecutive non-breeding seasons (2022/23 and 2023/24). After successful breeding, the hawk migrated from her nest site in Estonia to the same wintering area, located some 280 km north-east in north-western Russia.
