This issue of The Lancet Public Health marks the journal's 10th anniversary. In 2016, after witnessing two Public Health Emergencies of International Concern—epidemics of Zika and Ebola virus—The Lancet team decided to launch an open access journal in public health, underlining the importance of the free availability of research findings for public health practice and policy decision making. Over the past decade, we have sought to address the most urgent issues in public health, to document and respond to new and emerging predicaments (eg, the environmental and commercial determinants of health), and to shed light on some under-recognised, underestimated determinants of health and health equity.
