Derivation of complex digit topology circles from simple digit topology circles is studied for creating novel mechanisms. First, the relation between the digit topology circle C n ( k ) i and the mechanism is discovered, and several simple C n ( k ) i are constructed. Second, many complex C n ( k ) i are derived gradually from the simple C n ( k ) i by increasing or decreasing the digits of the simple C n ( k ) i or existing C n ( k ) i by 1, and their derivation approach and processes are studied and explained. Third, several novel mechanisms with more mechanical advantages or more functions are created using different derived C n ( k ) i , and their creation processes and the principles of novel mechanisms are explained. The proposed derivation approach of complex C n ( k ) i is not only supportive to the creation of novel mechanisms and to the conceptual design of a mechanical system automatically but also easy to make that enumeration process computable.
