Photonic Universe Hypothesis (PUH) — Theorem paper. THE QUESTION. T245 named its sharpest internal test, Conflict 1: a ladder of thresholds is a structure in a scalar variable and a gate is a structure in an angular one, and 'if the two cannot be carried by one consistent object, one of the strands is wrong'. T396 found the gate — if spacetime is a half of the frame of the Shell's invariant C₃₀ and time lies along a root's image, a spinning core meets the whole E8 lattice only about the icosahedron's 6, 10 and 15 axes, 5, 3 or 2 times a turn — and for Conflict 1 offered 'a structural candidate, not an answer'. C. J. Tully's recent note 'After the Form' recalls McKay's correspondence between the binary polyhedral groups and E6, E7, E8. Following its icosahedral case from T396's icosians, this paper finds an object that carries both, classical and explicit, and computes it twice: from the gate, and from inside E8's own algebra. RESULT 397.1 — THE GATE'S GROUP, ACTING TWO WAYS. The 120 unit icosians are a group, 2I (all 14,400 products, exactly), with no abelian quotient. Conjugation turns the 3-space orthogonal to time, taken along the root 1, by exactly T396's 60 rotations: 72° and 144° about 6 axes, 120° about 10, 180° about 15. Left multiplication keeps the lattice and its norm and fixes no direction, and the Hopf map q ↦ q i q* turns it into conjugation, exactly. Folded by left multiplication, the unit 3-sphere of the half becomes S³/2I, the Poincaré homology sphere. T222's binary tetrahedral group 2T sits inside, in five conjugate copies. RESULT 397.2 — KLEIN'S THREE FORMS MARK THE GATE'S AXES. The polynomials on the half that all 120 leave unchanged are generated in degrees 12, 20 and 30 with one relation in degree 60 (Molien's series, exact through degree 90). Built by averaging over the group in exact arithmetic, Klein's forms f, H and T satisfy T² = aH³ + bf⁵ in all 61 coefficients, and their zeros, sent through the Hopf map, are the ends of T396's axes — f's 12 the six five-fold axes, H's 20 the ten three-fold, T's 30 the fifteen two-fold (to 2.5 × 10⁻¹⁶). The folded half is Klein's surface x² + y³ + z⁵ = 0, whose exponents 2, 3, 5 are the gate's beats per turn and whose weights 15, 10, 6 are the numbers of axes, as Klein's construction makes them. Klein's number J sorts every spin axis: infinite on five-fold axes, 0 on three-fold, 1 on two-fold. RESULT 397.3 — EIGHT UNFOLDINGS, E8'S EIGHT DEGREES. The surface unfolds in exactly eight ways, with weights 2, 8, 12, 14, 18, 20, 24 and 30 — the degrees of E8's eight Casimirs, computed separately from the heights of E8's 120 positive roots. C₃₀'s slot multiplies the constant: alone, it lifts the surface clear of the folded point without breaking the point up. One slot alone (the other slots, not the other Casimirs, at zero) leaves an E7 point for C₂'s slot, a D4 for C₈'s or C₁₂'s, an A1 for C₁₄'s, an A2 for C₁₈'s, and none for C₂₀'s or C₂₄'s. The quadratic Casimir alone, with the seven higher power traces zero, leaves no point: an E7 point needs all eight Casimirs nonzero together. What an unfolding can leave falls into strata by rank, from 8 at the folded point to 0. RESULT 397.4 — THE SAME SURFACE INSIDE E8'S ALGEBRA. In an integer Chevalley basis of E8, the subregular sl₂ (weighted Dynkin diagram 2220 2222, centraliser 10, orbit 238) splits e8 into pieces of dimensions 3, 11, 15, 19, 23, 27, 29, 35, 39 and 47, so its transverse slice has ten coordinates of weights 4, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 30, 36, 40 and 48: twice the seven lower Casimir degrees, and Klein's 12, 20, 30. Computed exactly modulo two primes, each lower Casimir cuts its own coordinate linearly and C₃₀ is left with nonzero x², y³ and z⁵: the slice meets the all-zero leaf in Klein's surface — the central fibre of Brieskorn's theorem, computed here; by the theorem it meets every Casimir leaf of T156 in one of the surface's unfoldings. The member of the Shell's level set C₃₀ = c* with the lower Casimirs zero is a smooth surface with eight independent 2-cycles meeting in E8's pattern and the Poincaré sphere as its boundary. RESULT 397.5 — WHICH GATE CARRIES THE LADDER, AND WHICH REAL FORM CARRIES THE SLICE. In C₃₀'s frame two ways of folding agree — the beat's rotations doubled (Klein's way) and the left multiplications that keep the lattice and its norm are the same 120 icosians — and give E8's surface, whose unfoldings carry all eight Casimirs, C₃₀ among them. In E8(−24)'s rational frame they part: its lattice projects onto the Hurwitz order, kept under left multiplication only by its 24 units, T222's 2T, which fold the half into E6's surface, while the cube's beat doubled, 2O, folds it Klein's way into E7's; neither has a slot for C₃₀. In the other direction, E8(−24)'s complex nilpotent orbits have dimension at most 216, T296's top orbit, so the subregular orbit (238) does not occur there: the slice lives in the complex algebra and its split form. RESULT 397.6 — WHAT CONFLICT 1 GETS. Klein's surface with its unfolding is one object carrying an angular gate and a structure of the ladder's kind. Under T396's postulates this answers the doubt behind T245's Conflict 1 at the level of an object — the two can be carried by one consistent object; that the unfolding is the cascade's ladder of tensions is a further postulate, L, without which the ladder side is only an agreement of degrees, and T245's single equation of state is not supplied. Conflict 2: walls rather than gaps over the complex numbers; not settled for PUH's real Casimirs. Under L the folded point is reached only on the nilpotent cone, which T314 makes the cascade's asymptotic endpoint and never a core's state, so no core carries it; how the surface's eight cycles collapse on the way to the cone depends on the path — along the scaling the unfolding allows, all at once at the cone. NOT CLAIMED: that spacetime is a half of C₃₀'s frame or that time lies along a root's image (T396's postulates); that the unfolding is the cascade's ladder (Postulate L); an equation of state; which configurations the cascade visits, in what order or at what tensions; that E8(−24) carries the subregular slice; that the folded point is a singularity in the sense of infinite density. KILL-CONDITIONS: PUH's spacetime shown to be a rational half (the gate's surface then has no slot for C₃₀ — E7's or E6's in E8(−24)'s frame); PUH's configurations confined to E8(−24)'s real states with no complex extension (the slice never meets them); the unfolding parameters at a gate shown not to be the configuration's Casimirs (the ladder side of Conflict 1 then only an agreement of degrees); a core shown to lie on the nilpotent cone, against T314. OPEN: how the cascade's real endpoint in E8(−24), T296's top orbit (216), relates to Klein's surface — a mechanism not yet found; Postulate L; the order and values of the Casimirs along the cascade and at the Shell; which frame; what folding by left multiplication, which moves time, means for a Lorentzian spacetime (T382); whether T212's E7 × SU(2) appears through Steinberg's map (the algebra's E7 point is a Levi E7); whether the rational frame's 2T and E6 bear on T222's E6; a measurement that reaches the folded geometry — a mechanism not yet found.
