The hyperscale data center industry is aggressively pivoting toward Silicon Photonics to resolve the thermal and bandwidth bottlenecks of traditional copper interconnects. However, this transition is being engineered in a sterile vacuum. By ignoring the brutal physical realities of the rack environment, the industry is trading electrical bottlenecks for mechanical vulnerabilities.
