This paper studies the adaptive prescribed‐time (PT) output feedback control for strict feedback switched nonlinear systems with unknown parameters. First, to estimate the unmeasurable states, a novel switched PT K‐filter is constructed. Subsequently, employing the backstepping design method, the common virtual controllers are carried out step by step to overcome the effects of subsystems' switching and the adaptive PT output feedback controller is designed at the last step. Based on a proposed new lemma, that the observation error and the closed‐loop system states can converge to zero within a prescribed time is rigorously proved. Based on the proposed method, the system can not only achieve PT stabilization, but also allow the arbitrary switching without considering the average dwell time condition. Finally, a numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of proposed methods.
