Light emission by surface plasmons induced by high‐energy electron beams was investigated for several nanostructures, i.e. two touching particles of silver, a silver whisker and stripes on a flat metal surface. The emission spectra showed that the resonant peaks originated from the resonant modes of surface plasmons. Monochromatic photon maps taken at peak wavelengths clearly revealed the spatial distribution of surface plasmons on the metal nanostructures.
