IPCC cited literature has become more diverse over time

Using a new lens on inclusivity, we systematically analyze over 67,000 references cited in AR5 and AR6 across all three IPCC Working Groups. Although diversity in cited countries, institutions, and journals increased, the knowledge base remains heavily drawn from developed countries. Continued efforts to broaden the cited knowledge base are likely to support more inclusive climate assessments.
