This paper introduces the Caged Heart Theory (CHT), a framework for understanding strategic power in interpersonal relationships. The theory proposes that actors can achieve relational power not through overt dominance, but through a sequence of emotional conservation, selective intellectual disclosure, strategic over-investment, and the creation of an illusion of control in the other party. The theory integrates insights from game theory, social exchange theory, and Goffman's dramaturgy into a five-stage cyclical model. Testable propositions and application domains are discussed.
