The Critical Need of Commerce Skills in Everyday Life for StudentsAuthor: Katyaynee Rai (Department of Commerce, Class 12th Sun Shine Public School)AbstractWhen selecting academic streams after Class 10, Commerce is frequently treated as a specialized track reserved for students aspiring toward accounting, banking, or corporate governance. However, empirical observation and high school coursework indicate that commerce represents a foundational set of life skills utilized daily by every consumer (Lusardi & Mitchell, 2014). From managing monthly personal allowances and evaluating Goods and Services Tax (GST) on purchase receipts to navigating digital Unified Payments Interface (UPI) systems and understanding inflation, commercial literacy directly governs modern living. This research paper evaluates the necessity of basic commercial education for secondary school students across all academic disciplines. By analyzing personal budgeting, banking awareness, tax compliance, and financial safety, this paper demonstrates that functional financial literacy should be integrated universally into secondary education curricula.
