The evolution of advanced building services has significantly transformed contemporary interior environments from passive spatial configurations into intelligent, adaptive, and data-driven ecosystems. Increasing demands for energy efficiency, occupant well-being, sustainability, and operational optimisation have accelerated the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), smart sensors, digital twins, and automated building management systems within architectural and interior design practices. This conceptual review investigates the emerging role of AI and smart technologies in redefining advanced building services and their influence on future interior environments. The study aims to examine the integration of artificial intelligence-based approaches in building performance analysis, environmental control, spatial planning, and occupant-centred design. A qualitative literature review methodology was adopted by analysing recent peer-reviewed studies related to AI-driven building systems, smart building technologies, intelligent environmental controls, and human-centred interior design strategies. The review identifies that AI-enabled systems are increasingly capable of predicting energy demand, analysing occupant behaviour, optimising indoor environmental quality, and supporting adaptive design decisions. The findings indicate that future interior environments will shift from static spaces towards responsive ecosystems capable of learning, predicting, and adapting according to user requirements and environmental conditions. Technologies such as generative AI, digital twins, intelligent lighting, adaptive HVAC systems, and robotic automation are expected to play a significant role in developing sustainable and personalised interiors. However, challenges related to cybersecurity, data privacy, technological dependency, interoperability, and ethical decision-making remain critical concerns. The study concludes that successful implementation of AI-driven building services requires a balanced integration of technological innovation with human creativity, social requirements, and sustainable design principles.
