This research note introduces LÄNDParl, a novel open-access dataset covering all 1,056 persons who have held a seat in the Landtag of Baden-Württemberg, the parliament of Germany’s third most populous federal state, from the Constituent State Assembly of 1952 to the 18th legislative term that began in 2026. The dataset records 2,552 MdL (state level MP) terms across 18 legislative terms (plus 127 in the Constituent Assembly) and combines biographical information (sex, date and place of birth, religious denomination, education, occupation coded in a standard occupational scheme, family status, migration background) with a complete record of each mandate: constituency, mandate type, entry and exit dates and reasons, parliamentary party group and switches. Its distinctive feature is a geo-referenced classification of every birthplace and – for the two most recent terms – of places of residence into the three historical territories that shape subregional identities to this day: Baden, Württemberg and Hohenzollern. LÄNDParl thus enables research on territorial and descriptive representation, legislative recruitment and careers at the subnational level, as well as on the consequences of the 2022 electoral reform.
