This study demonstrates that FLASH radiotherapy reduces oral mucositis in both wild-type and Fanca -deficient mice. At the cellular level, FLASH attenuated radiation-induced inflammation in the tongue relative to conventional irradiation in both genotypes, indicating that FLASH mitigates inflammatory processes associated with oral mucositis. Collectively, these findings support the potential of FLASH radiotherapy to reduce radiation-induced oral mucositis in the context of Fanca deficiency and the Fanconi anemia genomic background.
