In the present work, elastic wave propagation and band structure properties in spherically nanoscale periodic laminates subjected to radial excitation are investigated based on nonlocal elasticity theory. Initially, approximate analytical solutions of governing equation and transfer matrix corresponding to spherical waves are formulated mathematically. Then, band structures and transmission spectra of spherically multi-layered nanocomposites with respect to Resin/Silver and Silver/Resin cases are computed to examine the nanoscale size-effect. In order to validate the feasibility of the present formulation, variation of transmission spectra for different values of nonlocal parameter e 0 a is confirmed and evaluated by the available published literature. The stress waves between adjacent segments for the spherically multi-layered nanocomposites are simultaneously analyzed. Ultimately, illustrative parametric investigations are scrutinized to illustrate the influences of structural and material parameters on the starting frequency and cut-off frequency corresponding to the band structures. This work may be valuable in providing design philosophy and manipulating spherical wave for the multi-layered nanomechanical devices.
