Title: L0 Invariant State Matrix (L0-ISM): A Deterministic Control Architecture for Critical L0 Infrastructure and Boundary-Constrained Systems Abstract:The increasing reliance on probabilistic Artificial Intelligence and continuous floating-point algorithms in Operational Technology (OT) and Level 0 (L0) critical infrastructure introduces unacceptable risks of stochastic drift, computational latency, and unpredictable edge-case failures. Drawing from the historical transition from additive, zero-less Roman numerals to positional Arabic numerals, this paper argues that modern AI suffers from a structural "Roman Matrix Bloat"—attempting to solve physical control problems by infinitely scaling parameter spaces rather than anchoring value to position and structural equilibrium. To eliminate unconstrained floating-point infinities, we introduce the **L0 Invariant State Matrix (L0-ISM)** architecture—a fundamentally deterministic control paradigm based on discrete positional geometry and axiomatic teleology. The L0-ISM framework maps multidimensional physical and operational parameters onto a rigid, symmetric discrete scale ranging from -9 to +9 using unique, non-repeating positional digits (from 0 to 9), where 0 represents absolute thermodynamic or logical equilibrium (the fulcrum of a balance scale). System states are encapsulated as finite k-dimensional tuples and routed through precompiled Lookup Tables operating in constant time O(1), entirely eliminating computational latency and stochastic uncertainty. The architecture features hardware-level absorbing boundaries at -9 and +9 for immediate interdiction (Hard Stop, -999) and integrates input hysteresis alongside temporal gradients to ensure physical stability against signal noise and actuator chatter. Furthermore, because the state space is strictly bounded to a finite set of 19^k states, the entire logic matrix is natively compatible with exhaustive formal mathematical verification via SMT solvers (such as Z3), guaranteeing the absolute absence of critical failure paths. As documented in early archival records and exploratory working files, the architecture underwent a real-time documented evolution—from early conceptual drafts (Invariant Bytes) to a unified, multi-domain engineering standard. Validated across applications ranging from high-density AI data center liquid cooling (mCDU) to offline transactional edge nodes (Store and Forward T-OTP protocols), the L0-ISM architecture provides a zero-hallucination, fault-tolerant execution engine designed for physical environments where operational failure is simply not an option.
