Nerium's genetic resources are scarce, mostly uncharacterized and underutilized, as are the genome's structure and organization. Therefore, a detailed understanding of the genetic structure and characterization of genetic variability of the available germplasm is necessary for its successful application of breeding. To assess reproductive success, flower biology research were conducted to identify the different floral features, including flowering period, flower form, number of stamens, kind of anther dehiscence, number of pollen and ovules, presence of nectar and odour. Flower biology is the primary mechanism of reproductive behaviour and genetic variations, while pollination is the crucial to plant breeding operations. A better understanding of these reproductive characteristics can help with identification of suitable parents, improve pollination efficiency and improved cross strategies of Nerium.
