I propose the hypothesis that Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, Salvator Mundi, Mona Lisa, and Saint John the Baptist constitute a system of encoded knowledge—more precisely, a scientific hypothesis formulated by Leonardo da Vinci in an initial form by 1498 and developed into its final form by approximately 1508. According to my hypothesis, Leonardo conceived both the underlying idea and the method of communicating it through a system of encoded paintings over the course of many years. He developed this concept with extraordinary care and subsequently implemented it step by step, ultimately bringing the system to completion. The purpose of creating such a system, I propose, was to identify, among the scholars of his time, individuals capable of recognizing Leonardo’s idea and hypothesis, evaluating them intellectually, and eventually providing scientific confirmation for them.
