Vietnam is home to 19 species of wolf snakes, genus Lycodon . Over the last five years, six new species have been discovered in the country. Lycodon yunnanensis (Werner) is reported for the first time from Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam. Genetic analysis of the mitochondrial cytochrome b (cyt b ) and cytochrome c oxidase subunit I ( COI ) fragments shows that their genetic distances are below 1.65% and 2.89%, respectively. In addition, new records of Lycodon truongi Nguyen, Duong, Wood & Grismer are reported from central Vietnam, based on eight specimens collected in Da Nang City and Quang Ngai Province. Although the newly-collected specimens exhibit some morphological variations from the holotype specimen, the genetic divergence between samples from the populations is estimated to be less than 2.0%, based on a fragment of cyt b .
