We report new records of the Ocellated Poorwill, Nyctiphrynus ocellatus (Tschudi, 1844), from southeastern Ecuador. An individual of N. ocellatus was photographed in September 2025 at the Copalinga Reserve, Zamora Chinchipe Province. This observation, along with records from online databases, expands the species’ previously known distribution range toward southeastern Ecuador and confirms its presence in and affinity for humid montane forests of the Andean foothills.
