Perfluorodecalin (C10F18) is a well-known gas carrier for chemical and biomedical applications. Being an inert and stable liquid, it is capable of dissolving and releasing large volumes of O2 and CO2. In this work, we propose a route for enhancing its functional properties furthermore by designing a type-III porous liquid (PL) composed of C10F18 and metal–organic framework ZIF-8. Using spin probes encapsulated in ZIF-8, we employ in situ electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy to investigate the stability of this PL and the adsorption, transport, and desorption of O2 and CO2 in practical conditions. The prototypical flow system with EPR detection was designed to demonstrate the controllable sorption cycles of ZIF-8/C10F18 PL. The exceptional stability and appealing functional properties of this PL pave the way for its future chemical and biomedical applications.
