This study successfully synthesized Bi 7.38-x Ce x Zr 0.62 O 12.31+δ (0 with ≤ x ≤ 0.2) orange pigments by doping Bi 7.38 Zr 0.62 O 12.31 with CeO 2 . The diffraction patterns reveal that all prepared pigments can be indexed to a tetragonal phase (P-421c, 114), showing good agreement with the reference pattern (PDF NO.43-0445). Compared the Bi 7.38 Zr 0.62 O 12.31 matrix, CeO 2 doping enhanced the orange hue of the pigments and significantly improved their near-infrared reflectance. When the CeO 2 doping amount is 0.2, the pigment exhibits optimal color characteristics and reflectance, with a near-infrared reflectance as high as 110.25% (compared to BaSO 4 ). In the thermal insulation performance test, the Bi 7.18 Ce 0.2 Zr 0.62 O 12.31 -coated house maintained a steady indoor air temperature difference of 9.2 °C compared with the uncoated model, indicating that Bi 7.18 Ce 0.2 Zr 0.62 O 12.31 pigment shows excellent heat-shielding performance. In the study of evaluating chemical durability and UV aging resistance, the color change remained below 5, indicating excellent resistance to chemical erosion and solar radiation aging. The prepared pigments have considerable potential in the application of energy-saving building coatings.
