Standard formulations of relativistic quantum mechanics enforce spatial localization by imposing boundary conditions on field amplitudes, leaving the dynamical consequences on proper-time progression unquantified. In this paper, we evaluate quantum confinement on the invariant chronokinetic velocity ledger, v² + T² = c², where T ≡ c(dτ/dt) = c/γ represents the laboratory coordinate rate of proper-time progression. When a particle of rest mass m₀ is localized within a spatial domain Δx, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle demands a non-vanishing internal momentum variance: Δp ≥ ħ / (2 Δx) Under the circular velocity budget, this internal momentum variance forces an internal coordinate velocity variance, systematically depressing the particle's rate of proper-time progression. By applying the Foldy–Wouthuysen transformation to isolate the positive-energy Hamiltonian and separate mean orbital kinematics from Darwin and Zitterbewegung oscillations, we evaluate the relativistic expectation value ⟨T⟩ for bound-state configurations. We prove that quantum localization establishes an intrinsic, geometric proper-time floor: ΔT/c ≥ (1/8) (ƛ_C / Δx)² where ƛ_C ≡ ħ / (m₀c) is the reduced Compton wavelength. As localization approaches the Compton limit (Δx → ƛ_C), the spatial velocity dispersion saturates the speed-of-light budget, freezing external proper-time progression (T → 0) and transferring available spacetime capacity entirely into localized internal circulation. These results demonstrate that inertial rest mass and quantum confinement are dual manifestations of a single geometric conservation law: rest mass represents the energetic condensation of vacuum capacity where proper time is locked into internal kinetic circulation. Key Summary Points (For Notes or Record Keeping) Kinematic Tax of Localization: Shows that spatial confinement (Δ x) enforces an internal momentum spread (Δ p), which taxes the velocity ledger v² + T² = c² and depresses coordinate proper time. The Proper-Time Confinement Floor: Derives the invariant floor: /c ≥ 1/8(C/Δ x)² proving that tightly bound states experience a fundamental limit on internal clock progression. Foldy–Wouthuysen Decoupling: Uses the Foldy–Wouthuysen transformation to eliminate non-local Zitterbewegung interference, showing that the proper-time floor arises strictly from genuine positive-energy momentum dispersion. Geometric Origin of Mass: Reframes rest mass not as an arbitrary scalar coupling, but as the physical manifestation of proper time frozen into internal equatorial velocity circulation.
