This study aims to develop a framework for the Carbon Credit Market. Assessment of credit risk in financing environmental performance and the voluntary market. A total of 5,432 peer-reviewed journal articles published during the years 2001 to 2026 were reviewed to map out the academic structure and evolution of this field. The study utilises bibliometric techniques such as citation network analysis, co-citation analysis, content analysis, publication trends and keyword analysis, which draw data from Scopus for analysing literature on carbon markets, environmental finance and risk assessment. The studies have been classified into three phases: the first phase is development on a foundation between 2001 and 2010, a consolidation phase from 2011 to 2018, and an acceleration phase from 2019 to 2026, where the volume of publications has seen a threefold increase. The study lays out a potentially useful foundation for future, more integrated risk pricing models that will encompass technical, behavioural, and institutional aspects to improve market transparency and environmental integrity in carbon credit pricing.
