Introduction Essential oils are secondary metabolites that are abundant in aromatic plant families such as Labiatae, Conifers, Umbelliferae and Myrataceae. They play a role in preventing excessive evaporation, are donors of hydrogen in oxidationreduction reactions and also have a role in plant defense against attack from insects and microorganisms. On the other hand, they may attract specific insects for pollination.
