This study examined the effectiveness of community health strategies in preventing communicable diseases among adolescents in Alimosho Local Government, Lagos State. The study population comprised adolescents in the area, from which 200 respondents were selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data was collected using a self-developed questionnaire titled Community Health Strategy on Prevention of Communicable Diseases Questionnaire (CHSPCDQ), structured on a four-point Likert scale and divided into demographic and study-variable sections. The reliability of the instrument was established through the test-retest method using 10 respondents from Ijede community in Ojo Local Government Area who were excluded from the main study. Pearson Product Moment Coefficient yielded a reliability index of 0.87, indicating good reliability. Data were analysed using frequency and percentage for demographic characteristics, while linear regression was employed to test the hypotheses at a 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that health promotion strategies and disease prevention strategies significantly influenced the prevention of communicable diseases among adolescents. The study recommended regular health promotion programmes, continuous monitoring and evaluation of disease prevention initiatives, and the inclusion of more professionals in community health teams.
