Neosulcatispora Crous & M. J. Wingf., Persoonia 35: 283 (2015) Type species. Neosulcatispora agaves Crous & M. J. Wingf., in Crous et al., Persoonia 35: 283 (2015). Generic notes. In the present five-locus phylogenetic analysis, the type species Neosulcatispora agaves forms a clade with N. agavicola and N. hongheensis. These species share pycnidial conidiomata with brown walls of textura angularis, phialidic conidiogenous cells and pigmented conidia. The placement of N. strelitziae outside this clade suggests that the genus, as previously applied, may not be monophyletic. Neosulcatispora strelitziae has erumpent, globose, dark brown to black with central ostiole conidiomata. Conidiophores reduced to conidiogenous cells, or with a supporting cell, lining the inner cavity, hyaline, smooth, ampulliform, phialidic, with periclinal thickening or tightly aggregated percurrent proliferations. solitary, golden-brown, smooth, ellipsoid, 0–1 - septate conidia. The morphology and phylogeny of N. strelitziae should therefore be reassessed using additional loci and related genera before any recombination is proposed.
