This paper advocates self-reflexivity and a paradigm shift towards unpredictability, promoting and sustaining more adaptive, caring and co-productive strategies. This implies embracing the fluidity of the context within which planning, and planners operate and developing key-elements for a transformative practice that can respond to the challenges in the current neo-liberal setting. Hence a call for a more imaginative, flexible and adaptive approach with planners as key actors working with and within an autonomous, self-organizing civil society. As a framework for embedded planners this approach is based on three concepts: undefined becoming, embeddedness, radical strategic planning.
