O Programa de Gestão de Documentos da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro (PGD Carioca)

The article presents the Records Management Program of the City of Rio de Janeiro (PGD Carioca), developed and coordinated by the General Archive of the City of Rio de Janeiro (AGCRJ). It discusses the theoretical and methodological foundations of archival identification as a method for implementing records management programs and describes the procedures for identifying the records creator and the documentary typology, which form the basis for the elaboration of the classification plan and the retention schedule. It analyses the legal and normative foundations of the Municipal Archives Policy and presents the contributions of the PGD Carioca to public integrity, transparency and access to information.
