Mendeley is a reference management software and academic social network that helps students, researchers, and academics organize research, collaborate online, and generate citations as well as bibliographies automatically. In scientific writing, Islamic values emphasize truthfulness, precision, and ethical responsibility in citing sources, as stated in Surah Al-Isra' verse 36. This article aims to explore the definition, operating procedures, and the advantages and disadvantages of using Mendeley in scientific writing through a literature review. The findings show that Mendeley simplifies reference management, integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Word via Mendeley Cite, supports multiple citation styles, and helps prevent plagiarism. However, limitations such as restricted free cloud storage, internet dependency, and potential metadata extraction errors still require manual checking. Overall, utilizing Mendeley enhances efficiency and academic integrity in writing research papers.
