Cyclopropanes are prevalent in natural products and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). In this review, while discussing recent developments in classical cyclopropanation approaches, cutting-edge advances in the construction of cyclopropanes using modern synthetic strategies will be highlighted. This study aims to identify current gaps in this research field and present promising new opportunities to facilitate their incorporation into complex natural and APIs structures, and advance cyclopropane chemistry in the future.
