This study presents bibliometric and content analyses of the risks faced by the banking sector. It focuses on liquidity and credit risk and their impact on financial stability. When reviewing the banking sector, we discuss bank risks, financial stability and Basel norms. We conduct a bibliometric analysis on 926 documents extracted from Scopus and Science Direct databases. Its purpose is to identify the current trends in bank risks and financial stability, influential publication outlets and articles, prolific authors and their affiliated countries and institutions, and common topics and themes. We also conduct a content analysis of the most-cited articles to identify the factors other than liquidity and credit risk that impact financial stability, and the models used to measure it. We identify gaps in previous studies and propose topics for future work. Our findings may help those interested in studying various aspects of financial stability in the banking sector.
