An π½ π -linear set πΏ = πΏ π of Ξ = P G β‘ ( π , π½ π π ) β P G β‘ ( π β 1 , π π ) is a set of points defined by non-zero vectors of an π½ π -subspace U of V . The integer d i m π½ π β‘ π is called the rank of L . In Lunardon and Polverino (2004) [23] , it was proven that any π½ π -linear set L of Ξ of rank u such that γ πΏ γ = Ξ is either a canonical subgeometry of Ξ or there are a ( π’ β π β 1 ) -dimensional subspace Ξ of P G β‘ ( π’ β 1 , π π ) β Ξ disjoint from Ξ and a canonical subgeometry Ξ£ β P G β‘ ( π’ β 1 , π ) disjoint from Ξ such that L is the projection of Ξ£ from Ξ onto Ξ. The subspace Ξ is called the vertex of the projection. In this article, we will show a method to reconstruct the vertex Ξ for a particular class of linear sets of rank π’ = π β’ ( π β 1 ) in P G β‘ ( π β 1 , π π ) called evasive linear sets. Also, we will use this result to characterize some families of linear sets of the projective line P G β‘ ( 1 , π π ) introduced from 2018 onwards, by means of certain properties of their projection vertices, as done in CsajbΓ³k and Zanella (2016) [13] and in Zanella and Zullo (2020) [34] .
